Why Continue Praying?

Continuing in prayer after our 21 Days of Prayer Event is a good practice for keeping your spiritual life vibrant and growing. The Bible offers a lot of encouragement on the importance of ongoing prayer. Here are three verses speak to that idea:

Luke 18:1 – “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.”Jesus is teaching here that prayer is not just something we do for a set period; it’s something that should be a continual habit.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 – “Pray without ceasing.”Paul is reminding us to make prayer a constant part of our lives, not just something we turn to in times of need. It’s about maintaining a relationship with God, always being in a posture of communication with Him.

Philippians 4:6-7 – “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”This one is a reminder that prayer is a way to deal with anxiety, worries, or anything weighing us down. After a focused time of prayer like 21 days, continuing to pray helps us stay in peace, knowing God is handling our concerns.

So, continuing in prayer helps strengthen that ongoing relationship with God and brings peace, clarity, and perseverance. It’s like not letting the fire of your faith burn out—it needs constant tending!

What do you think helps you stay consistent in prayer?

This Sunday, as you come in, the greeters will be giving out name badges. Please write your name on it and wear it with a smile. It’s a fun way to connect, and we hope it helps us all feel a little more familiar with each other.

On Sunday, it was great to hear from our missionary, Allison Neubert, who serves with Campus Outreach in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Genesis 1:26-27

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
