Thanksgiving, from a Biblical perspective, is a time to give thanks to God for His blessings, provision, and love. While the holiday itself is not directly mentioned in the Bible, the principles of thankfulness and praise to God are found throughout Scripture, and these teachings can be reflected in how Christians observe Thanksgiving.
Here are some key Bible verses (KJV) that support the Christian perspective of Thanksgiving:
- Psalm 100:4 – “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” This verse encourages believers to approach God with a heart full of gratitude, acknowledging His goodness. Thanksgiving, in this sense, becomes an expression of worship and honor.– “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” This verse encourages believers to approach God with a heart full of gratitude, acknowledging His goodness. Thanksgiving, in this sense, becomes an expression of worship and honor.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18 – “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Christians are urged to give thanks in every circumstance, recognizing that God is sovereign over all things. Thanksgiving is not just for good times but also for trusting in God’s plan even in difficult situations.
- Psalm 136:1 – “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.” This verse highlights that God’s goodness and mercy are eternal, and thus He is worthy of our thanksgiving. A key element of Christian Thanksgiving is recognizing God’s enduring love and faithfulness.

November Memory Verses
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
