What is Advent and Why should it be Important to Me?
Advent is a time of intentional waiting and preparation, offering us a chance to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. As we read our short devotional each day, we are reminded of the hope, peace, joy, and love that the birth of Christ brings into our lives. This season invites us to slow down, step away from the rush of holiday shopping and decorations, and focus on the deeper significance of Christ’s coming into the world.
Celebrating Advent also calls us to actively engage in preparing our hearts for God’s presence, both in the anticipation of celebrating Christ’s birth and in the ways He continues to enter our lives. As we reflect on the themes of hope, peace, joy, and love, we are invited to cultivate these virtues within ourselves and extend them to others. In this way, this season becomes a time not only of looking back to Christ’s first coming, but also of looking forward with hope to His return, renewing our hearts for the season of Christmas and for the work of God in the world.

December Memory Verses
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Matthew 1:22-23
